AUSTIN & COLEMAN SMITH BAND

Bluegrass, Country, Swing & Classical Violin

"It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing" & "All Legends Aren't Old"

Believing the first and proving the second are just a natural part of any performance by brothers Austin and Coleman Smith. They developed a child prodigy reputation as two of Texas' finest fiddle players of any age. The boys, who have performed as "THE FIDDLERS TWO," have been perfecting their art for more than a decade. Sharing the stage with such legendary artists as the Lightcrust Doughboys, the Texas Playboys, Tommy Allsup and the Texas Dance Band, Asleep at the Wheel, Johnny Gimble and Red Stegal. They have performed at the " Legends of Western Swing Music Festival" in Snyder, Texas, on the bill with Herb/Johnny and the Playboys II, Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys and Ted Scanlon and the Desparados.

Austin and Coleman won the Twin Fiddle Championship of the "World Series of Fiddling" and have been featured performers with the Fort Worth Symphony and Pops Orchestras. They consider it an honor to have performed at the gala groundbreaking ceremony for the new "Performing Arts Hall" in Fort Worth with such artists as LeAnn Rhimes and Natasha Poon.

They have recorded as featured guests on Youth Orchestras' "The Holiday Spirit in Cowtown" CD. The brothers were nominated for the Academy of Western Arts "Western Swing Duo Group award" for 1997, and are in a made-for-TV video "San Antonio Rose."
Austin and Coleman re-located to Scranton in northeastern Pennsylvania, the birthplace of their parents, where they both studied music at Marywood University. They have performed at the Moscow and Greene Dreher Sterling Fairs, the "Scranton Summer Music Festival" in Nay Aug Park, the " Outdoor Concert Series" in Honesdale and programs for schools at all grade levels. They often perform with their cousin, bassist, Doug Smith, and are incorporating more jazz into their western swing style of playing.
