Marko Marcinko

Marko is a graduate of the University of Miami, and a native of Archbald, PA. For the past sixteen years, he has been a freelance musician playing drum set, percussion, piano, keyboards, trombone and bass guitar. As a drummer and arranger he has recorded and toured with trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson. He has also performed and recorded with jazz sax giant Dave Liebman, touring throughout the US, Japan and Brazil.

Marko has also served as musical director/pianist for numerous off-Broadway shows, including Shakespeare and All That Jazz, starring Nicol Williamson. Besides many television and radio appearances, he has had mention and features in such national magazines, newspapers and trade publications as Modern Drummer, Talking Drums, Jazz Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Village Voice, and LA Scene Magazine. Having conducted master classes and performances in Brazil, France, Germany, US, Japan, Austria and the UK, Marko is a notable clinical for Zildjian Cymbals, Aquarium Drum Heads, Vater Drum Sticks, Gibralter Hardware and other endorsing companies.

Marko has worked with such notables as pop sensation Jon Secada, Juan Gabriel and Melba Moore; jazz greats Joe Henderson, Clark Terry, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Phil Woods, Arturo Sandivol, Paquito D’Rivera, Johnny Coles, Bob Dorough, Bob Mintzer, Al Grey, Mulgrew Miller, (bassist) Will Lee, and many more. Within the past few years, he has served as studio session player, jingle/commercial writer and producer on projects from pop rock to jump swing/blues. Bands such as Active Ingredients, The Chris Parker Group, Mere Mortals, Bent Blue, and Big Daddy Dex & The Groove have found Marko performing double duties most of the time. He also serves as the artistic director for The Jazz Studies Institute located at the Scranton Cultural Center, Scranton, PA.
