Gary Rixner

 

Tenor and Bass Trombone

Graduated from Carnegie Mellon University School of Music Pittsburgh, Pa. Featured soloist at Carnegie Hall, New York City (C.M.U.brass quintet and orchestra). Studied trombone from Byron McCulloh, bass trombonist, Pittsburgh Symphony. Toured the U.S. with Bill Harms Quintet for 6 years. Side man for many national acts including The Delaware Water Gap Festival Big Band, The 5th Dimension, The Temptations, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Frankie Valle, Bill Haley and the Comets, The Four Tops, Lou Christie, Bob Newhart, Joan Rivers, Kool and the Gang, Englebert Humperdink, Ben Vareen,and Champions on Ice. Toured with The Cancun Jazz Festival 1992. Headlined at The Delaware Water Gap Celebration of The Arts, 2004 and The Wilkes Barre Fine Arts Fiesta, 2005. Formerly played with local acts Daddy-O and the Sax Maniacs, Reggie Brown , Rich Jenkins, Souled Out and Bobby Kyle. Currently playing with Paul Labelle and The Exact Change Band, All That Jazz, The Indigo Moon Brass Band, The Great Swamp Band, and The Gary Rixner Trio.
