Ed Wargo

 

Classical Flutist

Ed Wargo is a member of the adjunct faculty at Marywood College, teaching flute to music students specializing in music therapy and several other disciplines. He has received Temple University’s ‘President’s Scholar for Academic Acheievemet and ‘Essie Baron Memorial Awared for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Music.’

He performs with the Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society, Singers’ Guild of Scranton, the Robert Dale Chorale and other ensembles, including a chamber music trio which plays concerts and private performances in the region.

Ed received his musical training at Temple University, graduating summa cum Laude and holds a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He is a former student of Murray Panitz, principal with the Philadelphia Orchestra and solo flutist, Harold Bennett, Samuel Baron and participated in master classes with the legendary Julius Baker. He has also played principal flute with the Houston Metropolitan Symphony and the Galveston Symphony inTexas, Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society and Singers’ Guild of Scranton. He is a guest soloist with Marywood University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Robert Dale Chorale. Ed is also a member of the Houston Flute Quartet.

By day, Ed is the manager of administrative computing at Lackawanna Junior College and is working on a degree in software engineering at the University of Scranton. He is also a freelance performer and active at a private teaching studio.
